Description:
CoolFish restaurant, located within the North Shore Atrium at 6800 Jericho Turnpike in Syosset, Long Island, NY, combines the charm of a seaside villa with a distinctively stylish edge. Restaurant interior-designer Brian Shore has created a warm environment of beige and terra cotta hues and soft indirect lighting elegantly framed by exposed brick walls - which makes Martin Smith's modern black & white photographic portraits all the more striking. CoolFish's restaurant menu serves to complement this blending of modern and classic, with a globally inspired mix of contemporary cuisine. For those seeking a more laid-back experience, our lounge area features a separate menu of lighter fare, a "communal table" for single diners, and an array of artfully mixed cocktails. Our Long Island restaurant's wine list is an exemplary selection of over 100 wines, with an additional reserve list of the connoisseur, 30 of which are available by the glass. Finally, the Chef's Table is available for parties of up to 12 persons for tasting menus and small private functions. For just the right amount of cool to spruce up your affair, CoolFish restaurant in Long Island is available for catered events on or off premise, specializing in weddings, sweet sixteen's, bar & bat mitzvahs and baby & bridal showers. CoolFish is open Monday through Friday for lunch from 11:30-2:30 and open for dinner seven nights a week starting at 5:00 pm.

1/1/2009 Hostess Rude and Arrogant
Had 9 pm reservations for new years eve. After 45 minutes of waiting for my table I said to the hostess, Allie: "I think you should give us a drink for all this waiting." She replied: "I don't like being told what to do." In my opinion that was not the way to treat a customer. She could have said I'm sorry I dont have the authority to do that and I am sorry for the inconvenience. If I had not already waited 45 minutes I would have left. A hostess is the first person a customer meets and she represents the restaurant. Allie, was rude and arrogant and left much to be desired. On the other hand, I told my complaint to Eileen who validated me and apologized. She also gave us a glass of champagne to compensate. The waiter, Chris, Eileen and the food were all great. However, the hostess allie left much to be desired and is NOT an asset to the restaurant. If she is not the owner's mother, I can't imagine why she is there. I have read other reviews and this does not seem to be the first time there is a complaint against a "rude hostess"

7/30/2008 Great place for either lunch or dinner!
Wonderful food, great atmosphere, and reasonable prices! You have to try their pecan pie! It is to die for!

6/8/2006 more like cold fish
Went to Cool Fish with the family for the first time tonight for my birthday. I had the Maryland Lump crab cake (one cake for $12) which was salty and not so much lump crab as it was shredded crab. For the main course, I had the Chilean Sea Bass with Lobster Fricassee and spinach ($28). The dish was artfully presented and tasty, but the portion was very small and I could barely find any bits of lobster in the dish. For dessert, I had the vanilla creme brulee, which was delicious. My mother's cinnamon pork chop was undercooked and had to be sent back--but was still undercooked, so she had it wrapped up to take home and cook herself since we were all done eating by the time she got it back. The waitress was not accomodating, helpful or polite and didn't even apologize. Customer service means a lot to me, so I will find somewhere else for my family of four to drop $250 on dinner (4 appetizers, 2 glasses of wine, 4 entrees and 1 dessert).

11/15/2005 Excellent
I had the pleasure of dining at your restaurant this past Saturday and have been raving about the cuisine since. The truffle oil flan served with the swordfish was excellent. The ambience of the entire place along with the professional, yet warm staff, complemented the entire dining experience. I have recommended already!!!

11/15/2005 Great Seafood
A co-worker of mine introduced us to Cool fish and we went out there for lunch. Its actually kind of hard to find because it's behind this building and the sign on the street is not that visible. So look out carefully if you are going there. Well the restaurant is beautifully designed and has a "cool" atmosphere. They have a lunch menu where I ordered their seared tuna which was delicious. If you love seafood, give Cool Fish a shot!
